History

Caminul Felix, also called Felix Family Villages, started 1990 in Romania. Linda and Lars Hornberg lived in Oradea and out of the needs among abandoned children the first family was formed. Five children without parents moved into the circle of their new family. A young couple committed to become their new parents – for life. They formed a real family.
With that the first Felix Family was formed.

The first year the little family lived in an apartment in town. Those were days that broke new grounds in a country soaring numbers of abandoned children in streets and institutions. Young couples shouldered responsibility and lead hundreds of children to both a good life and a life of faith in self, family, society and God.
1992 the first Felix village was built east of Oradea with six families, and 2002 the second Felix village opened with ten families, just south of Oradea.

The Felix idea is to give abandoned children a new mother and father, a home and a real family with faith and resources to heal, develop and live.

Felix families are free families living and developing their own lives. The Village concept - contra individual homes - has many advantages for many areas of living, such as economy, supervision, education, and development.

The Felix Family Village leadership has decided to mainstream the education into the school system of the countries they exist. The goal is total integration into society.

A dairy farm, sewing and house hold workshops, a hotel and other vocational activities, meet needs, such as work training, an improved menu and income, among the children and teenagers and for the organization.

The Felix Family Village in Thailand started to develop with national leaders from the city and province of Surat Thani. Ten home are being built and the four first homes were moved into in the spring of 2009.

There are millions of abandoned children in the world today. The Felix Village Ministry is a strong answer to the needs among the children without parents in our time and world. The family concept is proven to be an outstanding environment for abandoned children.
The family idea should be used around the world to meet the needs among abandoned children.
